The idea of the annual observance of flag day 2011, in all probability, originated in 1885. BJ. Sigrand, a schoolteacher, arranged for his students in Fredonia, in a secondary school in Wisconsin, 6 th District, to celebrate June 14th (108 anniversary of the approval of Stars and Stripes) as Flag Birthday. In subsequent years, numerous articles in magazines and newspapers, personal letters Sigrand continued to enthusiastically advocate the celebration of June 14th as “Flag Birthday” or “flag day 2011″.
June 14, 1889, George Balch, a teacher of elementary grades in New York City, planned a beautiful ceremony for the children of his school, and his idea of celebrating flag day 2011 was later adopted by the Board of Education in New York State. June 14, 1891 Town Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia supported the celebration of flag day 2011 and June 14 next year, the Society Sons of the Revolution of New York celebrated flag day 2011.
Following the advice of Colonel J. Granville Leach (at the time of the historian in the Society of Sons of the Revolution in Pennsylvania), Society of Colonial American community in Pennsylvania April 25, 1893 has decided to ask the mayor of Philadelphia and other influential and ordinary citizens to celebrate flag day 2011 on June 14. Leach suggested that in the future to celebrate this holiday, called “Flag Day”. On this day, students convened for specific classes and each child was issued a small flag day 2011.
Two weeks later, on May 8, Office of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in Pennsylvania unanimously supported the action of the Society of Colonial America communities in Pennsylvania. As a result of the decision, Dr. Edward Brooks, then head of public schools in Philadelphia, ordered presentation in honor of flag day 2011 held June 14, 1883 at the Independence Square. Pupils were built, each carrying a small box, patriotic songs were sung and proclaimed the speech.
In 1894 the governor of New York decreed that the celebration of June 14 flag day 2011 should be displayed on public buildings. That’s when the flag day 2011 began to appear in both houses to show their patriotism. Together with BJ. Sigrand and Leroy Van Horn as the main instigators, in Illinois to campaign and organize the event was founded by an organization known as the Association of Flag Day. June 14, 1894 under the auspices of this organization was first celebrated flag day 2011 in most public schools in the state of Chicago: in Douglas, Garfield, Hambolte, Lincoln, and Washington Parks, with the participation of more than 300,000 children.
Adults, too, participated in patriotic programs. Franklin K. Lane, Minister of Regions, said in a 1914 speech to the Day of the flag day 2011, which were the words on behalf of the flag day 2011: “I like what you made me. I swing before your eyes as a bright gleam of light, I – a symbol of yourself.”
